Hi, my name is Stuart Grinnell. Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I ride the fence on what my photographic focus is, but the following is a statement about this. What I enjoy most is photographing real life, whether that is an environmental portrait, an editorial spread or a corporate industrial series.

As cliché as this may sound, I am passionate about photography. Within the past few years I have been taking steps to propel that passion to another level. Unfortunately, there is no quick or easy way to do this. What I've learned is that I will only attain this higher goal through hard work and a lot of failure. Call it whatever you will, but I am just too stubborn to stop trying.

One step I took to get closer to that goal was attending/graduating from the Art Institute of Seattle's photography program. I will without any hesitation be the first to say that going to photography school, no matter where, does not make someone a photographer. Anyone who picks up a camera and pushes the shutter release is a photographer, but some people are simply much better at doing this than others.

Some of the work displayed here was produced before going to photography school, other images while in school, and finally others after my formal photographic education. Please feel free to send me feedback or leave a comment on my blog, where you can also purchase prints from a selection of my images.

My wife and I currently live in the greater Seattle area where on weekends we love to go on epicurean adventures and visit antique stores with friends.
